| Start & Finish Position | ||||
| What to do: | With this exercise you will need a partner. If you are the one performing the exercise get on the floor face down like you were going to do a push up. Extend your arms and hold that position. Have your partner stand over you and press down on your lower back (opposite side of your abdominal muscles) with both hands. Do not let your arms bend or your partner push you down. Pushing back on the hand pressure will work your core muscles very effectively. The partner applying the pressure should gradually increase the pressure until it becomes very challenging for the person face down. | |||
| Don't Forget to: | If you are performing this exercise squeeze your butt muscles together, it will help you have more stability. If you are the person standing remind your partner to push against where your hands are on their lower back. To time your partner it is a good idea to take off your watch and place it on their back so you can watch the second hand. | |||
